MN Doctor and Senator: Hospitals Get Paid More to List Patients as COVID-19, Put Them on Ventilators

In a troubling interview on Fox News, Senator and doctor Scott Jensen revealed how the American Medical Association (AMA) is encouraging doctors to overcount COVID-19 deaths across the nation.

Dr. Jensen, who is a Minnesota physician and Republican state senator, came forward with the information after he received a 7-page document coaching him to fill out death certificates with a COVID-19 diagnosis without a lab test to confirm the patient actually had the virus.

During the interview on The Ingraham Angle, Dr. Jensen disclosed that hospitals are paid more if they list patients with a COVID-19 diagnosis.

He went on to say that if those patients go on a ventilator, they get paid 3 times as much.

Take a look:

Senator Dr. Scott Jensen:

Right now Medicare is determining that if you have a COVID-19 admission to the hospital you get $13,000. If that COVID-19 patient goes on a ventilator you get $39,000, three times as much. Nobody can tell me after 35 years in the world of medicine that sometimes those kinds of things impact on what we do.

The information brought forth by Dr. Jensen is disturbing, to say the least.

Here is the clip in which Dr. Jensen exposes the 7-page document he was sent that effectively tells doctors to exaggerate coronavirus deaths:

“Last Friday I received a 7-page document that told me if I had an 86-year-old patient that had pneumonia but was never tested for COVID-19 but some time after she came down with pneumonia we learned that she had been exposed to her son who had no symptoms but later on was identified with COVID-19, then it would be appropriate to diagnose on the death certificate COVID-19,” Dr. Jensen said.

He explained that this is not a normal procedure.

Dr. Jensen said, for example, if the same patient had pneumonia during flu season and he didn’t have a test confirming the patient also had influenza, he would never diagnose the patient with influenza on the death certificate.
